CMC Lighthouse Drive

South Carolina has a rich coastal history. Back in the days of early sailing and boating, Mariners used lighthouses to help them get into ports safely. Sadly they are symbols of a bygone era. Several still stand and exist here in SC. Have you ever thought? Could we drive to all of them located in South Carolina in a day? We here at the Charleston MINI Club think that we can! It would be a alot of driving but seeing these wonders up close is amazing. So here is the plan!

We will meet up at the Starbucks in North Charleston at 5AM from. We can grab a quick cup of coffee and prepare for a day full of driving!
From there we will depart shortly after and drive to our first lighthouse. In a day we will visit and get close to the following:

Sullivans Island Lighthouse
Morris Island Lighthouse
Hunting Island Lighthouse (We can climb it!)
Harbor Town (AKA Hilton Head Lighthouse) (We can climb it!)
Tybee Island Lighthouse (A skip away from Savannah)

We will end with a dinner in Downtown Savannah - The Deck Tybee - Bar & Grill in Tybee Island, GA!!

You might think that list looks kind of small. Sadly despite its rich lighthouse history. Of the 11 ever built in SC only 1 is open to the public all others are privately owned or have no easy access.

What you will need to bring
1) Radios to talk to each other
2) A desire to drive
3) Walking and climbing shoes
4) Money to cover small fees at Hunting Island, Harbor Town and Tybee Island
5) Money for food

This is sure to be an all day fun event! Hope to see you all there!
